Wayne was born during the late fifties in a small fishing community along the shores of Nova Scotia, Canada. With the ocean and many lakes and waterways at the doorstep he developed a love for nature. Wayne developed artist skills at a young age and practiced sketching and painting as time allowed.
Later in life Wayne and his family moved to the Cowichan Valley region on Vancouver Island, Canada. Shortly thereafter Wayne had the opportunity to pick up the brushes once more and pursue his passion. Wayne paints in oils and acrylic and enjoys all types of art.
Wayne is a self taught artist and paints from the heart. Memories from youth exploring the shorelines, watching fishing vessels come and go, or the simplicity of nature all provide inspiration.
"I'm inspired by anything that represents the cycles and effects of nature. Old weathered structures or materials deteriorating and succumbing to the elements are very interesting. The history they hold and how they have endured remind me of human life without the complexity."
